Drama Pdf Raina Telgemeier

Read Online Drama By Raina Telgemeier EBOOK Product Description From Raina Telgemeier, the #1 New York Times bestselling, multiple Eisner Award-winning author of Smile and Sisters! Callie loves theater. And while she would totally try out for her middle school's production of Moon over Mississippi, she can't really sing.

Summary:

Drama is a graphic novel that tells the story of Callie, a girl who is in charge of the set design of her middle school's performance of 'Moon Over Mississippi.' While readers experience the behind-the-scenes events that occur during a drama production, they also get to experience the 'drama' that occurs in Callie's life. Callie likes Greg, but Greg was trying to work it out with his ex-girlfriend, Bonnie. Meanwhile, Callie meets Justin and Jesse, twins who enjoy musicals and love to sing. While Justin tries out, Jesse decides to help Callie with the set design. Callie and Jesse become good friends, and Callie starts to develop feelings for Jesse; however, Callie soon learns that Jesse is gay. While Callie is upset initially, she soon comes to realize that friendships, like the one that she has with Jesse, are important too.

Critical Analysis:

Raina Telgemeier sets up Drama to appear like a performance in 'acts,' rather than chapters – complete with an Overture, Intermission, and Final Act. It helps illustrate the plot of the story in a meaningful way, with its connection to the 'drama' aspect of the book itself. The illustrations are very colorful and keep readers' attention as they follow Callie through the dramatic events of her life. Readers understand Callie's feelings as she struggles to understand the meaning of her relationship with others in her life. While she longs for a relationship with Greg, she soon begins to have feelings for Jesse and often appears to be 'torn.' One thing that is unchanging is her love of drama and production. Callie realizes that she is not a singer or performer, so she focuses her talent on creating set designs for her school's drama productions. It is a book that contains may topics that middle school students deal with, including friendship, crushes, & self-identity.
